Party Party Party!

Yay it is Saturday! That means it is time for masks and tea and snacks and partying.

Of course, I had invited everyone, all the faeries and mermaids of Katlandia, over for a very special tea party.... and my camera broke! No fun!

Here's Marilyn and the Twirly-que bird, with our Gypsy fortune teller faerie. I used my video camera instead, to capture some group shots of the party after my camera gave up. We made Tazo Passion tea, with lots of tupelo honey..

Super yummy! ( it is one of my favorite teas, try it if you haven't yet! )

Group shot! Everyone is ready for tea and cakes!

Some of my guests brought delicate tissue paper flowers as party gifts, and are hiding behind them because they are camera shy.

And lastly, here is the finished version of the digitally colored and textured drawing I made. I love dresses that look like confections! And her striped socks!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful time, the faeries and I will be spending the day drinking lovely (and tiny) cups of tea and making masks!

Glitter?! Where?

Still cannot find my glitter... and truly, how does one go to a party without glitter? Good thing this is a blog party, I can use my digital glitter.

Here is a tiny peek of a picture I was making for the party, complete with crazy computer sparkle goodness!
I have absolutely no idea how to format photos for the blog, so I use the default picture setting... oh well.

Sparkles!

Party! Party!

Vanessa of A Fanciful Twist is hosting a party for her 200th (... 201st?) post. I've not joined in for festivities with other bloggers before I'm never really sure where to start. I think I get overwhelmed by the sheer amount of creative, interesting people who blog. I normally feel like an ugly step-sister going to the ball... but not this time. I'm excited! There have been all sorts of things in the works here in Katlandia, and a party is just the thing we need. A crazy costumed mad tea-party!
So much cleaning and decorating to do... and I need teeny tiny cups for all the little Katlandians to drink tea. Perhaps this should be a BYOM (Bring Your Own Mask) event... never mind that. I need to find where my glitter has gone. The mermaids and fairies that inhabit this place like to steal all my shiny/glittery/feathery things, maybe I can entice them with a sparkley mask instead.
Stripey socks, teensy tea cups, glitter masks, ribbons, fairies and mermaids, oh my!

Painting Progress part 1

I am totally clueless when it comes to audio for these little movies I am making. This one has an epic movie score which I love, from devin anderson, but obviously my little painting and my little movie aren't exactly 'epic movie'

I took video of my process at creating a painting, from starting to about the middle of painting... because then the camera battery died. Very inspired by the leaves that Frida Kahlo used in a lot of her paintings,

Autorretarto con Collre de Espinas y Colibri, 1940

One of my favorites that she did.

Charging the battery and then there will be a part 2.

Glitter, how I love thee...

I love painting with Lumiere paints, it is like painting with pure liquid glitter. I wish I could paint myself Halo Blue-Gold. yummmmmmmmmmmmmm!

Playing WIth Tissue!

My first 'real' attempt at a movie. Part two coming up!

You can use dyed and fused tissue paper as a surface to write on in art journals, in collage, in scrapbooking. Or you can use it paper mache, decoupage, as a background for atcs/aceos... use your imagination. It's fun!

Too much?

I've been working, working, working!

Cloud of Chamomile
Acrylic on canvas, with all sorts of metallic micas and rich dyes and glazes to get that shimmery bright translucent color. I love how all those little flowers came out.

There have been many paintings and sketches and things going on around here. Sometimes I forget to share. All this week I've been working all on magical new things. Mermaids, and faeries and angels to be exact... and in 3-d! I've been covered in paper pulp and paper clay all week. I forgot forgot forgot how much I loved sculpting since I haven't done it since college. I can't wait to share! There are fishes and new paintings to share as well, still, I only have a video camera and scanner, no regular picture camera! So what do I do? Decide to shoot videos!

Am I trying too hard, doing too much? Painting, gourds, sculptures, video... I really want to make stop motion animation films too. Who needs sleep?

When I thought about videos, I really wanted to do something that is like Good Eats, but with art. I don't really know anything about video so it is very very slow going. And frustrating! Still, I am painting a small piece and documenting the process. While I am learning how to use the video camera and editing software I made a video of me flipping through two of my sketchbooks.

It's fun, frustrating, and sort of addictive.

Stills from the video in the works:
